Hello! It's that time of year again! Summer has just started for me, and with a new summer job, I'm ready to spend this summer reading some great books and searching for internships. Here are some of my recommendations for this summer! I'll be reading some of these for the first time myself, so make sure you let me know how you like them!

5. The Generations Trilogy, Scott Sigler

This trilogy was recommended to me by a friend, who spoke very highly of it. I'll be borrowing it from her, that's for sure! Follow the series that reminds readers of The Hunger Games in a sci-fi adventure. M. Savage, the leader of a group of teenagers who awake in coffins, must help them all survive--even as she doubts her own abilities.

4. Old Man's War Series, John Scalzi

I thoroughly enjoyed the first novel of this series, and the rest of them are on their way! Join me and read about the adventures of John Perry and others in this fantastic sci-fi epic spanning several unique characters and a strange age-gap.

3. Discworld Series, Terry Prachett

There are many, many books in this universe! Terry Prachett was an amazing author, and his books about Tiffany Aching introduced me to my love of fantasy novels. Read about various parts of this incredible universe, following everything from a sentient piece of luggage to some grouchy sheep and a girl discovering her magical abilities!

2. The Themis Files, Sylvain Nuevel

This series looks freaking amazing. I've read a few excerpts, and I love its non-traditional forms. The novel is a collection of interviews, news articles, journal entries, and transcripts rather than a straight up narration. Called a "literary thriller," I'm just as excited to read these books as you should be.

1. The Iron Druid Chronicles, Kevin Hearne

You've just seen my review for the first book of this series, and I can tell you already that the next two are awesome as well! You'll see those reviews soon. This is a broad series following a universe where every single god exists (and Jesus is kind of an asshole if you don't follow his directions) and Atticus is expected to keep them all straight.

All of these recommendations are books that belong as a series! Summer is a great time to get invested in a fantastical universe--choose one and go for it! I hope this helps you fall in love with a new author and universe.

If you have any other recommendations for people to read, talk about them in the comments below! Enjoy your summer of reading!
