Here we are. It's the final book in the trilogy, and I've finished. It makes my heart hurt, because it was a great journey.

I was definitely crying at the beginning of this book, and I was crying at the end, too. I don't have the words to properly describe how this book made me feel, except to compare it to my time reading Harry Potter. These books are gonna stay with me for a long time. I'd like to thank V. E. Schwab for writing this lovely trilogy--I can't wait to read more of her work.

It's been a long road for Kell, Lila, Rhy, Alucard, everyone. I enjoyed the hell out of reading these books, and will definitely go back and read them again (after forcing my friend to read them first, of course). I'm reluctant to share anything but a very brief summary, because this novel is the perfect and loaded culmination of a lot of work on Schwab's part.

This book follows our beloved characters as they struggle against a dark force that seeks to take over whatever worlds he can get his hands on. Kell is forced to look past his prejudice, Lila struggles with the concept of belonging, and every character suffers unimaginable pain. With intrigue still afoot, the representatives of Vesk and Faro still in the palace, and the shadow king taking hold of Red London, this novel is non-stop action. We see the sacrifices that kings must make and the power of delayed love. We see heart-wrenching sorrow, pure joy, and a chance at freedom.

We witness the combined forces of the Antari, love, and the will to live in a beautiful masterpiece of a novel.

I cried during this book. I cried several times. There was pain, sorrow, happiness, and so much more in those tears. I haven't read a book that made me feel so much in a while, and I'm so glad that I discovered the Shades of Magic series during Unboundworlds.com Cage Match, 2017.

I hope that I've convinced you to read this amazing trilogy and support its equally amazing author like unbound did for me. Let me know. I'll be thinking about these books for years to come, and I'll love returning to this world of magic and love and loss.

(P.S. Kell should have won that Cage Match.)
