Watch & Remark: Power Rangers

I didn't exactly grow up with the Power Ranger craze, but my brothers were right in the thick of it, and some of their enthusiasm must have rubbed off on me because I was very excited to see this movie. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I thoroughly enjoyed the cast.

The cast was multicultural and hilarious, and I loved that one of them was on the spectrum and was very, very positive about it! The girls were bad-ass and had real emotions, and the guys were crazy and didn't overpower the girls.

I assume that the movie followed a classic power rangers theme and plot, but the origin story for this reboot was quirky and slightly painful to watch, which is always a plus. Also, the suits were hella cool.

Former star-quarter back turned permanent resident of detention, Jason, becomes the leader of the new team of power rangers after they discover the coins that a former ranger had hidden wen dinosaurs still roamed the earth. While trying to morph, the teens learn that Rita, the classic villain, is trying to do what she does best and cause death and destruction. Now, the teens have to figure out how to actually be power rangers and defeat Rita, before it's too late.

The movie was fun to watch, and there were a few heart-wrenching moments, so I'd definitely recommend it to any new fans. Unfortunately, I can't really say anything to the fans of the old series because of my lack of experience, so best of luck to you!

Also, don't forget to stick around for the post-credits scene! It's a clever homage to the original power rangers, and possibly the set-up for a sequel.
