As a Hufflepuff myself, I loved this new addition to the Harry Potter family in the form of Newt Scamander and his wonderful case full of creatures. I definitely identified with the Niffler--my propensity to collect books is much like his desire to surround himself with shiny things. I saw this movie several times in theaters because of how much I enjoyed it, and I am definitely going to buy the DVD and watch it for the rest of my life.
Newt's journey in America is unclear at the beginning of his story, but he soon becomes entangled in a jumbled net as some of his creatures escape his case. With the help of a muggle, a former Auror, and her sister, Newt strives to find his creatures before they can cause any harm, or more importantly, anyone can harm them in the dangerous world that is America.
Newt is portrayed by the wonderfully capable Eddie Redmayne, and his acting skills are put to the test with the sensitive creature that is Scamander. He did an amazing job, and it really helped create such an impactful movie that also commented on the social climate of today's America as well.
I can't stress enough how much I appreciate J.K. Rowling for expanding the wizarding universe, which was a large part of my childhood, and I hope that the next four movies are just as great as the first.
To those who are unsure if they want to jump back into the world of Harry Potter: do it! You won't regret a single moment.
